Since day one, we have been a giving company. We abide bythe 10% rule, that 10% of our profits are donated to charities like theGlen Doherty Memorial Foundation. There are two exceptions to this rule:Veterans Day and as of this year Giving Tuesday. On these days, we give 100% of our profits. Yup, that’s not a typo, 100%.
This year, we are mixing things up again and - for the first time ever - we are giving to a different organization: Protect Our Winters.
Founded in 2007 by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, Protect Our Winters (POW) is a community of athletes, scientists, creatives and business leaders advancing non-partisan policies that protect our world today and for future generations. POW helps passionate outdoor people protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change.
Jeremy Jones is a friend of ours and widely regarded as one of the most legendary big mountain riders and explorers of all time. Named a 2013 National Geographic “Adventurer of the Year” and eleven times voted “Best Big Mountain Rider of the Year” by Snowboarder Magazine, Jeremy has starred in over fifty snowboard movies worldwide, including his highly acclaimed, foot-powered snowboarding trilogy Deeper, Further and Higher.
But wait. Please take a moment to appreciate the fact that POW hastheir dogson their “Our Team” page. Need we say more?
It’s the type of cause that BUB would have loved. Fun fact, he was a ski bum before he became a SEAL. But regardless of what he was doing, Glen made sure to pay it forward whenever he could. BUBS Co-Founder Sean Lake, who was also childhood friends with BUB, said “In the spirit of BUB, a big backcountry skier who loved his time in the mountains, we’re proud to support a cause that was near and dear to his heart and ours. Protect Our Winters is a fantastic cause aimed at doing just that. And after all a life spent outdoors is a life worth living.”
This year, on Giving Tuesday, we are proud to support Protect Our Winters. Thank you for helping us pay it forward while supporting a great cause. #BUBWouldGo
